Peated Single Malt
The new 46% Amruts are a very different proposition to the pleasant but unexciting original release. At the higher strength this 24ppm peated effort fairly fizzes along the taste buds. This is excellent – hugely improved stuff from a distillery coming along in leaps and bounds.
Nose: Dry peat and old leather armchair with hint of citrus
Palate: Molassed sugar hits on the palate first and elegant peat follows. Butterscotch vanilla wraps the phenols for a comfortable and clean finale
